Modino: SAP EWM and AutoStore integration for Nordic telecom logistics

When Modino moved to a new warehouse near Oslo, the challenge wasn't just finding space — it was making SAP EWM and AutoStore work as one system. The solution: SAP EWM embedded in S/4HANA, fully integrated with the AutoStore goods-to-person system, supported by custom Fiori apps on AutoStore ports and Zebra mobile devices across the warehouse floor.
The result is a lean, scalable warehouse operation — every millimetre of space used efficiently, volume capacity expanded, and warehouse staff equipped with purpose-built mobile tools to execute inbound, replenishment, pick and pack processes without friction.
The need
Modino needed a warehouse management solution that could connect a new AutoStore goods-to-person system directly to their existing S/4HANA landscape. The requirement: SAP EWM embedded in S/4HANA as the control layer, with real-time integration to AutoStore — and mobile-friendly Fiori apps for both the automated ports and the manually operated areas of the warehouse.
Our solution
S5 implemented SAP EWM embedded in S/4HANA with a lean integration to the AutoStore system. A set of custom Fiori applications was built to support the full warehouse process: inbound, replenishment, pick and pack. At the AutoStore ports, large-screen Fiori apps drive the goods-to-person workflow. In the manually operated warehouse, staff use Zebra mobile devices with wireless label printers. GTIN and serial number scanning is built into every inbound and outbound process — critical for Modino's telecom product distribution across the Nordics.
What this looks like in operation: Modino's AutoStore processes well over 100,000 bin presentations per month at peak, with the main picking ports handling tens of thousands of picks each month, sub-six-second wait times, and SLA uptime consistently above 99.7%.
