The Need

Creating a webshop with the portfolio of Aker Solutions products to establish a more efficient way of cooperation with customers.

The Challenge

Converting the manual process of renting Oil and Gas drilling equipment to web-based e-commerce solution.

Our solution

The portal has been implemented as a modern and responsive web application working on all devices. We used SAPUI5 JavaScript framework and SAP S/4HANA system as a backend and database. Application was deployed to SAP Cloud Platform connected with on-premise resources via SAP Cloud Connector. Amadeusz, our UX Designer, made extra custom styling in the app, so that it fits Aker Solutions brand and fulfills requirements of their Communications Department. In the SAP Cloud Portal three CMS based pages were prepared for the Client – Landing Page, About and Contact. Project was fully agile and with use of Microsoft Azure DevOps tools. We also used Axure RP9 as a prototyping tool for the application. Design thinking methodology was applied as well.

Results

E-shop with such functionalities as:

  • Easy browsing through products portfolio

  • Gallery of pictures, 3D models and datasheets of products

  • Specifying the quantity and period of rental

  • Adding products to the basket

  • Ordering products

  • Easily manageable CMS pages

Long-term benefits

  • Manual ordering process is now automated!

  • Time needed for placing an order was reduced dramatically

  • Aker Solutions customers have now a more detailed view of the products portfolio – including datasheets, pictures, and 3D models
