Through embedded analytics and integrated planning in SAP S/4HANA and SAP Analytics Cloud, S5 Consulting empowered a global automotive leader with real-time visibility into critical manufacturing and financial KPIs—streamlined directly within Fiori for faster, data-driven decisions.

The sprint eliminated reliance on static reports and spreadsheet exports by introducing Smart Business KPIs, multidimensional reports, analytical list pages, and embedded apps. These enhancements reduced reporting backlogs, streamlined reporting processes, and established a clean-core foundation for scalable analytics.

The details

The need

The customer relied on overnight data extracts and manual Excel joins, resulting in no consolidated view of critical KPIs such as scrap cost, takt-time deviations, or supplier quality, while fragmented planning processes and a high dependency on IT for even minor report modifications further hindered efficiency and responsiveness.

Our solution

To address key analytics challenges, S5 Consulting assigned Swapnil Pradeep Dharia, Senior Analytics Consultant, to lead a focused seven-week embedded analytics engagement. The project began by enabling out-of-the-box embedded analytics content in S/4HANA, including roles and KPI tiles. Next, custom CDS views were developed to support material and customer hierarchies. Reusable analytical queries and Analytical List Pages (ALPs) were created, providing multidimensional reports for scrap, OEE, and cost-per-unit. Smart KPI tiles with threshold logic and drill-down capabilities were implemented for real-time monitoring. The team also enabled operational planning scenarios in SAP Analytics Cloud, covering product cost and OPEX planning. Finally, hands-on enablement sessions were delivered, empowering super-users to independently extend CDS views and create reports in Fiori.
