Consolidating SAP Across the Nordics and Building Readiness for the Future

April 2026

S5 Consulting supported Anora Group — the largest wine and spirits company in the Nordics — in unifying multiple SAP systems into a single platform, building a master data management portal, and helping the organization evaluate alternatives for its future ERP direction.

A multi-year engagement covering project management, functional consulting, custom development, and strategic advisory — delivered from the customer side of the project.

The need

Anora Group was formed in 2021 through the merger of Norway’s Arcus Group and Finland’s Altia — creating the largest wine and spirits company in the Nordic and Baltic region. But with the merger came a familiar challenge: separate SAP ECC systems running in different business units across multiple countries.

As part of its longer-term ERP strategy, Anora needed to bring all business units onto a single SAP platform. The SAP consolidation project required moving the remaining local SAP instances into the group system, while maintaining day-to-day operations across Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, and Denmark.

Anora needed a partner who could step into the customer side of the project — taking ownership of key streams, leading workshops, and managing a complex project with multiple vendors and a large, cross-functional project team.

Our solution

S5 Consulting has supported Anora across multiple projects since the consolidation began, building deep knowledge of Anora’s SAP landscape and business processes. The engagement covers three main workstreams:

1. SAP System Consolidation

S5 delivered a team with a project manager and stream leads for Procurement and Sales, embedded on the customer side of the project. We managed the full Explore phase including all workshops, coordinated across a large, cross-functional project team involving multiple vendors, and supported master data cleansing, test management (UAT test cycles and scripts), and project tooling through dedicated project management and documentation tools. The result: all business units consolidated onto one SAP platform with full intercompany trading capability.

2. Master Data Management Portal

In parallel, S5 built a Master Data Management (MDM) portal using a custom portal framework. The portal was first rolled out at the Estonian production site, then extended to Norway with a scalable multi-country architecture. The solution handles material master data governance across Anora’s product portfolio — from finished goods to raw materials and packaging.

3. Building ERP Awareness and Readiness

With consolidation complete, S5 organized and delivered a full-day workshop in Helsinki, helping Anora’s leadership and key users explore what a future ERP modernization could look like in practical, operational terms. The session covered architecture options, process modernization, and key functional areas — giving Anora a solid foundation for investigating alternatives for the future ERP, with SAP S/4HANA being among those alternatives.

Ongoing: SD/EDI and Procurement Support
S5 also provides continuous operational support for Anora’s Sales & Distribution, EDI, and Procurement processes, ensuring stability while the organization evolves its system landscape.
